Current UAV Jobs?

Anyone have any insight on who is hiring UAV pilots or related? About to get furloughed as a Major Airline Pilot and Airline Instructor Pilot. Anyone have the inside skinny in this industry?

Thanks in advance.

Are you prior military or currently serving in the guard or reserves?

UAV Jobs

Most UAV positions require some military experience with military flight training a strong suggestion. However you may not need to have passed military flight school to get the UAV position. The UAV pilots are called AVO's Air Vehicle Operators since you do not leave the ground.
If you are interested this company has a lot of openings.
MDA Corporation

If I were you. I would try to get to know the contractors really well. They usually hire you so you can turn around and train the next classes. As you know, FHU is very busy with UAS. Good luck.

Yeah my wife isnt willing to move that far from her kids....I will be looking more on the east coast.Having deployed 3 times in both avaition and convoys I am willling to deploy again.

CVGolfer 01-08-2010 07:30 PM

I think there is an east coast UAV company that usually send people over sea. I think the company is Navmar.

Check out www.insitu.com. They call their UAV drivers "Field Service Reps". You can live anywhere. Deployments are usually 4mos on/4mos off. A good friend of mine works there - really likes it.

I have a question about health standards for these UAV operations. As long as you can posess an FAA medical is that all you need? I was reading something about having military health standards if you are to be deployed overseas even if you are a civilian contractor. What exactly are these military health standards they speak of? Am i expected to do so many push ups and run the mile in a certain time. what about height and weight limits...pathetic if its true.

CVGolfer 01-09-2010 08:52 PM

100LL,

Most of the companies require just a FAA 2nd or 3rd class medical. Nothing special that I know of.
