Rumor Control: KCHS Wing/CC news??!

Heard a pretty good tidbit of info in the crew dog network about the the most recent Charleston Wing/CC and his "sudden" retirement. Apparently, everything is very hush hush and there is little to no info about the quick retirement.

Something must have happened, because it has been a long time since a Charleston Wing/CC did not move on to a bigger job.

When he was the 17th SQ/CC back in 1999, he grounded guys who put their separation papers in. He was not that well liked.

Any info would be appreciated. My interest is purely self-serving!!

Cheers,

Not sure if you're talking about Red. He wasn't the 17 AS/CC until 2000. I believe he moved onto Air Staff at the Pentagon and did not retire.

The current Wg/CC just got there and hasn't retired.

Rouge couldn't retire, he's the "best C-17" pilot in the Air Force or so I've been told.

Fun and games at KCHS? Didn't hear about that one. I did hear about the McChord Sq/CC sentenced for a sex crime though.

I didn't realize that he retired. I heard that he was moving to a staff job that wasn't up the chain. With the gear-up landing and only a Sat on the latest inspection, I guess someone elsedecided that he wasn't as good as he thought he was. I think that there was another issue, but I can't remember what it was.

"Feet on the ramp" ended under CSAF Fogleman. Which means if that SQ/CC was grounding dudes in '99, he was *wrong*.
