I was wondering if I could get some help from everybody on trying to get a pilot slot with the Jax F15 Air Guard Unit. The way I understand it is the unit has a board that meets and decides who gets a pilot slot, and that they only have a couple slots a year for someone who has never flown in the military.

The Situation:

Right now im in my junior year at UF, I have a CFI/CFII with a little over 600 hrs. Im planning on graduating with a BS in Geology from UF and a BA in Business Aviation from Santa Fe College in the fall of 2010. Hopefully by then I will have around 1700-1800 hours with a commercial multi and MEI added to my ticket. About 800 of those hours will be in a Caravan.

I am mainly concerned that I understand the process of getting a pilot slot with the unit and what I can do to improve my chances of getting to fly that awesome beast of an airplane. I was told by a friend that I can start applying to the boards that happen within one year of my expected graduation date, is that true? Also is there anything special that I can do to improve my chances of getting a slot? Thanks alot guys.
