How to increase chances of getting into ANG?
Hi,
I'm currently a senior and high school and going to kent state next year. I plan on majoring in Business and minoring in flight tech. When I graduate I will be a CFII. I was wondering what I should be doing during college to increase my chances of getting into an ANG fighter squadron?
Heres my plan, tell me what you think.
1.) Get very good grades throughout all of college.
2.) Join Kent States precision flight team.
3.) Do the express jet and continental airlines internship.
4.) Instruct during my senior year
5.) Graduate with a CFII.
6.) Take the AFOQT and get my resume ready.
7.) Either apply to express jet if hiring is up or apply to every ANG fighter squadron in the country.
Two more questions: would having all my Civilian licenses help me at all get interviewed with ANG? If I keep on applying and applying year after year will I eventually get in with the ANG?

Sounds like you will be competitive. I would try to get a regional job before you leave for ANG training...that way your seniority would accrue at the airline while you are doing initial military training.
Many of us had to apply more than once to get into a commissioning program, but it all depends on your strength as a candidate and the needs of the military at the time.
