Default Accessing DFAS MyPay and the Fog of War!

New login procedures...Really?! Realllllyy!

I can't believe it now is actually easier to go through the AF Portal to get your LES.

Enter your SSAN.
- Enter your PIN using a mouse-enabled Java keyboard (to deter key-loggers)

- Choose a new login (you cannot use a 10-digit number that can be easily guessed since we use last-4 all the time)
-- use the mouse-enabled java keyboard to do so.

If I haven't mentioned it yet, the keyboard is not Qwerty... but a random series of letters to again thwart key-loggers. The letters and numbers randomly appear on the screen in different locations.

- Choose a new password (instead of the 4-digit pin).
-- You cannot use your last PIN, any part of your SSAN, any of your last 10 passwords. You must use at least 1 letter, 1 number and a special character. The password must be at least 8 characters long but not more than 16.... using the virtual keyboard.

- Confirm your password using the virtual keyboard.

And the additional kick in the b@lls: AF Portal will be unavailable unless you have a CAC reader. No CAC for Mac yet.. I should go back to hard copy LES. However, I bet they will put the kabosh on hard copies anyway!

I think it is even more difficult to get a GDSS password.

It took me 15 tries before they would accept one.

Here websites that require passwords which I'm technically not supposed to write down...Yeah..right!

AF Portal
ADLS
PEX
GDSS II
PEX
AROWS
CitiBank Gov't Credit Card
MyPay
CMAS
Boeing TMS (C-17 Training software)
ACSC Blackboard website

I am sure I have missed a few websites! If my super-secret password UNPROTECTED file on my computer gets deleted, I will be a very unproductive gubbament worker!

It doesn't help when they automatically expire after (what seems like) 3 days now...I've got the password reset guys saved in my contacts, we're best friends now.

The Comm goobers are retarded. How is this secure?

You're either going to write it down on a sticky note underneath your keyboard, do the word .doc, or you're going to do the:

ZAQ......

next month:

XSW....

and then...

CDE...

Had to do this yesterday for the first time. Pretty much sums up efficiency & common sense (or lack thereof) in our business. Right up there with disabling thumb drives...but I digress...

Put Parallels on your MAC along with Xp/Vista Windows 7 and then install the reader and software

I mistyped my impossible password 3 times and got locked out. It turns out they are using an old USMC email address that doesn't exist anymore as my official email (I'm in the Navy). Since, there is no real conventionto talk to anybody on the phone to fix it, I literally will indefinitely have no access to my MyPay account. It will probably be easier to get NMCI to reopen my old email account so that I can get my password emailed to that account and then close the account again. My personnel petty officer said that she already has over 15 incorrect email accounts to try to figure out a way to fix in our squadron. I'm sure there are more.

At least the taliban won't know how much money I make. Oh wait, it's public record... Hmm.. Well, I'm sure we are safer not accessing our MyPay than we were last month.

Is there a way to log in with just your CAC?

Thought about doing that but chose not to for two reasons:
1. I don't want to buy a full up copy of Windows
2. I want to minimize my exposure to Windows as much as possible.

I'm a 1 year old Mac convert. It is worth all the hype...

PS. Thanks for the suggestion though.
