Active to Reserve/Guard & Commission

Quick question for those of you who went to the air guard or reserve right after active duty. Did you resign your commission or did you sign the paperwork to go into the IRR? Trying to figure out the least painful way to make the transition without a ton of paperwork and waiting, etc.
