Default Air Force/ANG Guys in Texas/LA

Hey guys I'm looking hard to join up. I'm hoping a couple letters of recommendation from some of the Lt and full bird Colonels at the base here in Del Rio could help. I'm currently a CFI and I teach all of Laughlin's IFS guys here. I currenlty hvae about 30 of them left to teach. Maybe less. I don't know what I'll be doing after Oct. 1st. They say they will be moving the entire IFS program to Pueblo NM. However some of the higher ups here say that they will be moving most of the colleges first and that my job should stay around awhile. Anyway after seeing the life up close and working with the guys all the time I'd like to join the reserves. I've looked at the Air National Guard as well as the Air Force. I was hoping to find a group closer to home.

So I was wondering if anyone here serves on either of those reserve units. If so I'd like to PM you some questions and hopefully get me an interview setup.

Thanks for any help.

Save the letters from the full-birds.

Lts knows just enough to get themselves killed if the NCOs leave him alone for a few minutes unattended...

Good luck - if you like the life why not go active duty? I'm glad you decided to do the AF IFS program - its a good deal for the CFI...

I don't want to go active duty because as I've stated I've seen the life lol. I see how things are ran for the reserves and for the AF and it just seems like the reserves are the way to go.

So if you are unable to acquire a pilot slot through the guard/reserve, you are not willing to go active duty to get one?
