Default G.I. Bill for type rating?

Does anyone know if one can use their G.I. Bill to pay for a civilian type rating? Specifically a B737 type rating. I'm flying with a Vet now who says they used to allow it, but when I call the gi bill folks all I get is recordings. Impossible to get a hold of a live person over there. Any knowledge or experience in this would be appreciated.

Yes, Chapter 30 (MGIB, not 9/11). I donīt know any place doing Chapter 33 for a type rating.

The 9/11 bill is supposed to be modified to allow more flight training (and other Vo-Tech) options, effective soon.

Im looking forward to some progress on this as well. I know there are some places that accept VA benefits in the standard way to pay for 60% of the type but nothing yet that I know of that pays in full.

I am not a proponent of paying for a type rating but I am all for getting a free one with the benefits I have earned.

Tough call as the 737 is dirt cheap and has a tangible use at a certain US carrier whereas the A320 covers a ton of foreign markets but costs a lot more. Also the bizjet route as a LRJET type or Challenger or HS125 or of course CE500 or 525 types have tons of uses as well.

FWIW, It also looks like Flight Safety International has VA Approved programs for different types,
Learjet What's New | FlightSafety International Inc.

Hawker and Beech 1900 What's New | FlightSafety International Inc.

VA Approved ATR 42/72, Challenger 601, Embraer ERJ145, Hawker 125, and Twin Commander Courses . Houston | FlightSafety International Inc.

Call and ask for Sandy at Higher Power near DFW Airport, she can fix you up and spell out the process for you to utilize 9/11 GI Bill benefits. They have a B-737 class that starts almost every week. Their number is 817-445-7100 and here is the URL
