FY2011 AF ACP Rules/Eligibility Out
FY2011 Active Component Aviator Continuation Pay (ACP) Program Announcement and Implementation found on AFPC website.
After reading through the eligibility rules and stagnant bonus ($25k newly eligible/$15k past uncommitted) money , I am positive that the AF doesn't see a need to 'protect' their investment against the wave of commercial hiring/retirements that is coming down. With the mere perception alone of the this wave, the AF will lose a whole generation of pilots fearful of deployments, TDYs and AF pettiness.

I think the last is the cause of the first two. I don't know any pilots that are fearful of deployments and TDYs...most I know have had it with the PC BS and pettiness.

Or the general culture of the Air Force. Classic example: CGO of the year at my last base.
Shoeclerk LT: never deployed, only TDY was for training in the States. Tons of volunteer work...hmmm. He could have been a stud and totally redesigned the reflective belt policy, I didn't get anymore info.
Buddy Captain: 2-3 deployments to the desert (only 1 for this particular year). DG from SOS (nerd!), many TDY's as a PROJO, not a whole lot of volunteer work, etc...
Guess who won...

I got the sarcasm. Unfortunately, it's NOT, really...
I just retired from AF AD after 23 years, flew all but 3.
Nothing has changed from the time I myself was a young CGO. The cycle continues. The people who make the mission happen bust their asses and the shoe clerks get recognition they could never otherwise get in the name of political correctness and/or improving their self-esteem.
It is worse now than ever, as the people with wings have all but let the shoe clerks take over the AF. My advice: Get used to it or get out. Now, however, is a bad time, so time your exit to your advantage if you choose to do so.
At least I won't have to live through the gay sensitivity training you guys'll have to have so you don't offend your newly outed brothers-in-arms... Pun intended!
