Another datapoint for you:
I did Sheppard Air for the Written (highly recommended) and All ATP at Trenton for my Practical. Although I only had 3.9 hours in the Seminole by the time I took my checkride, I passed with relative ease...and that's after being in a staff job for the last two years and being a HUD/Flight Director-loving C-17 guy. The Seminole was like going into a time machine and flying my old Tweet again... Good luck to ya... |
I used All ATP's. I used their Daytona Campus. Did the FE Written, the ATP Written, and the flights all in 4 days. Cost just about $3,000 when it was all said and done. Great staff, easy program.
About Harry in McGuire, he only works on the weekends, and it's the weekends he's free. Getting his schedule to jive with yours can be hard. Last I talked to him he was having to regain his medical to fly again, and was using a new plane so it was hard for him to schedule. He did tell me that he was going to be getting out of this game real soon though. |

All ATPs arranged the check ride. He was a big picture guy. Funniest part is that the Seminole is SO slow ...I had everything done for the next instrument approach (at the speed I am used to preparing for an approach), and then I checked position and realized I was still 10-15 miles away from the IAF. Pacing is much slower in the Seminole ... Good luck! |

All ATPs in Dallas (Addison)
I highly recommend All ATPs at Dallas (Addison). It was a great experience and I got through fairly painlessly.

Did my ATP and 737 type at Aeroservice in Miami back in 2008. $1,800 w' GI Bill. $4,500 without. You might be able to get the ATP only for even less... Worth looking into
Which model exactly? Sounds a good idea! |
737-300. At the time, I had a couple of buds at Southwest that told me the company didn't care if you got the type in the old jet or the new one. I called all the sim companies, and Aeroservice was the cheapest. 20 days in Miami was fun as well :) I did the written through Sheppard Air's gouge. Highly recommended. Used them for my CFI, CFII, and MEI Military Comp test. Great folks.

Unfortunately I had an awful experience with the 2 day ATP crash course. It just finished at the ATL (LZU) location. It was by far the most ridiculous checkride I have ever been through. The oral went far beyond the scope of the checkride. It was so miserable, I would not recommend this program to anyone, even if it were free. I promise you I am no thin-skinned military dude either. |
