That's a pretty weak missile. If that's all it can do, the contract should be cancelled and the U.S. govt. should sue the manufacturer. As taxpayers, we should be demanding more bang for our buck.

I'll vote for the latter. What ever happened to the Lt that did this? IIRC, it was his SQ/CC that he shot. HA!!... the irony. |

I think there is little doubt this idiot would have been run out of the Navy if his father wasn't an admiral.
Of course, I've heard the same thing about John McCain, based on his pre-vietnam antics. |

Or maybe the Eagle is pretty robust.

Mission kill, what more do you want? So the pilot made it home...you can no longer make planes faster than you can make pilots. |

What's the problem with the Gabby Giffords?
She was shot while in service to her country. Plus, she is a military spouse shot while in service to her country. I have no problem with this. Ferd, USAF, ret Yeah, it was legit service to her country and the shooting was service connected (not a random mugging, boyfriend's wife, etc). From what I know about her, she was know for doing those town hall meetings, and on the politician-statesman scale she was probably closer to statesman. I wouldn't have named a ship after her myself, but it's not totally ludicrous. |

I'm sure the families of 30 of our nations finest who were lost on August 6th, 2011 might disagree with you Rickair...just sayin'.
The deaths included: 22 U.S. Navy SOF personnel 20 of whom were from the Naval Special Warfare Development Group's (formerly known as SEAL Team Six) Gold Squadron. 5 U.S. crew members from the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment and 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment. 1 U.S. special operations Air Force Combat Controller from the 24th Special Tactics Squadron. 2 U.S. special operations Air Force Pararescuemen from the 24th Special Tactics Squadron. 7 Afghan National Army special operations soldiers. 1 Afghan civilian interpreter. 1 U.S. military working dog The 30 American deaths represent the greatest loss of U.S. military lives in a single incident in the decade-long war in Afghanistan that began in 2001 USMCFLYR |

To name a few of those 30:
Yep - I bet there are some GREAT ship names in that bunch. Some of them might even have approached 'statesman' status at my kitchen table. USMCFLYR I will start with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer Kraig Vickers (www.kraigvickers.com). He lived around the corner from me...each time I walk my kids around the block and see his wife and kids I want to trade places with him. Rickair I don't say this to poke back at you, but the idea that our nation is honoring a congresswoman by naming a war ship after her is a slap in the face to heros like Kraig and those who have gone before and after him. IMHO it is ludicrous! |
