That's a pretty weak missile. If that's all it can do, the contract should be cancelled and the U.S. govt. should sue the manufacturer. As taxpayers, we should be demanding more bang for our buck.

I'd be worried if there was a contract for AIM-9Ps currently.

Daddy being an admiral didn't hurt, but it wasn't necessarily the thing that saved his career (and it didn't save his flying career). I can think of two other guys I knew who had incidents about as colorful as "Smoke" Dorsey and went on to not only keep their wings, but have good careers. One of them was actually on the fast track and received command early. I don't think either one of them had family in the Navy hierarchy. The incidents with all three pilots were in the 80s when the mood and tolerance level in the Navy was fairly consistent (IOW, there wasn't a witch hunt mentality). Sometimes, circumstances and luck just break your way.

Also a good argument for having the heat source away from the center of mass like it was in the A-6 and is in the AV8B.

Yeah, it was legit service to her country and the shooting was service connected (not a random mugging, boyfriend's wife, etc).

From what I know about her, she was know for doing those town hall meetings, and on the politician-statesman scale she was probably closer to statesman.

I wouldn't have named a ship after her myself, but it's not totally ludicrous.

I will start with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer Kraig Vickers (www.kraigvickers.com). He lived around the corner from me...each time I walk my kids around the block and see his wife and kids I want to trade places with him.

Rickair I don't say this to poke back at you, but the idea that our nation is honoring a congresswoman by naming a war ship after her is a slap in the face to heros like Kraig and those who have gone before and after him. IMHO it is ludicrous!
