Why leave early?

Unless I read the article wrong, pilots aren't eligible.

Ok. I was mistaken. I thought that 11X referred to those assigned as unmanned aircraft operators (actually 11U), but it seems this is the generic label for all pilots.

On a related note, any rumors about continuation, or not, for Majors this year?

11X is how the AF refers to pilots generically. RPA operators are 18X, specifically 18A, 18E, 18G 18R, or 18S.

Per the HAF/A1P at a recent manning conference, non-continuation will not affect very many if any people at all. The AF is very close to meeting it's total manning goals, and would prefer to use voluntary methods like the one above rather than involuntary methods like non-continuation.
