Good for them!
The red tape needs to be cut away in a more timely manner.
Crucial assests sitting on the ground waiting for multiple levels of regional and national command centers to get their act together while people lives go up in smoke is a failure.

The whole 'have to use all available resources before they can be called up' is BS. That's the tanker companies looking out for themselves.

It'd be better if the MAFFS planes were in guard units - then maybe the state governor could declare disaster areas and get them out there quicker or something.

It's culpably negligent at best, and criminal at worst that they have to wait like that...it's a resource. Use it.

Agree with 1st and 3rd. Got a bud in the unit--it's always politics. They do great work, when they get to fly. Things that keep them on the ground--not related so much to being Reserve.

That aside, I was happy to see them fly today. Driving around tonite, I have to say it's a very strange feeling to see your city burning.

Huge props to firefighters and police.
