Default Blues Monday Over (praise the Lord)

The Air Force Times is reporting that Blues Monday is over, pending each MAJCOM approval.

Space Command and SOCOM have already eliminated it!

Any words on AMC? They had change of command today.

I am wearing flightsuit on Monday and will claim ignorance.

I was no fan of blues Monday but the irrational joy at its demise is pathetic. There are so many other pressing issues to be concerned with. Def an easy win for Welsh.

Nothing wrong with picking at the lowest hanging fruit for a quick morale victory. If Welsh is as great as many are saying he is, then you should have some faith that he has his eyes on bigger issues too and is diligently working on implementing plans to address them.

I never wore them anyway. Can't do much flying in your blues, and I'm always a standby pilot.

On the other hand, if it took this long to hit the low hanging fruit, scary to contemplate how long it'll take to deal with those bigger issues.

I'm with Deuce, I don't like wearing blues but the massive angst at being made to wear a uniform is embarrassing.

Where I'm at we wear blues M-Th, I don't see it changing

Are you talking about how long it took to get the Blues rules changed since its inception or since the new CoS took charge? I'm not disagreeing that the massive angst is in proportion to the rule; there is worst. Before my time in the fleet there was a time when you had to be in the equivalent of Blues at work if you weren't briefing, flying, or debriefing. During my time, at NAS Cecil Field/Jacksonville you were allowed to come through the gate in a flight suit.

Low hanging fruit is usually petty in nature (safety vests in the TO for instance) but people have a great dislike for its' taste. Swoop in and overturn something easy and give a sense of a small victory and you are now on an upward trend.

Something I read in the article made me think that the original issue came up for renewal and the General decided to not let the rule expire. Was this the actual case or did he flat out repeal the rule?

Wrong question... To understand why AF operators hated this so much, you need to ask where the rule came from in the first place...

Precisely right.

To many, it was symbolic and typical of the "appearances and image are more important than accomplishment and achievement" mindset.

There is one in every squadron... I can see it now.

Bro: Dude, I just won the 500 mil power ball.
Deuce: Whatever, the govt is going to take half of it anyway

Everyone knows there are bigger issues to fry. That doesn't take away from the fact that this is a good idea and does nothing but increase morale.

Same here. With the exception of the WG/CC, any pilot could be thrown on the schedule.
