Seeing as it is 20,000 man hours and 6 months to add the 10,000 gallon extended range tank to the dry bay and upgrade the inert gas gen. system to the newer system, 27,000 man hours makes sense.
The repair is the price paid for cutting a training system that never even envisioned the last ten years.
Last amc/cc would not approve the Before Landing check re-write the way we wrote it after the gear up. Thank him every time the flaps call interrupts your proper flow and scan.

Reminds me of the C-141 that hit a horse on the runway at Clark AFB back in the 60s.
