I would like to suggest that drone operators should have their own set of wings-much like balloon pilots.

Perhaps crossed trailers imposed on an eagle clenching a coke machine in one talon and an air conditioning unit in the other.
They should be very big and made of polished brass.
Other ideas are welcome.

It seems the Air Force has already provided something that captures the essence, radio waves and wings:

And deservedly so. Still do, too. They must need those leather jackets to protect them from the AC in their vans. I bet they're great at playing video games, tho. :D

Putting the Pilot in the RPAs

Aren't they suppose to remove their patches before they enter the trailer?

Maybe they will incorporate that into the RPA SERE course ;)

The Air Force is developing a SERE course.

It involves a nightmare scenario in which the drone operators are forced to endure a temperature of 75 degrees and watch helplessly as their drone RTBs for an autoland in autonomous mode.

Further devilment if not outright torture is brought on by "Exact Change Only" warning light on the coke machine, and being forced to sleep in the trailer for three nights on little more than a cot and air mattress.

A brutal interrogation follows in which each opposite co-droner is brutally questioned on the telephone by wives wanting to know where hubby was for the last three days.

I know this sounds funny, but my last trip to Kandahar I ran into a buddy of mine I used to fly with on helicopters. He got a medical DQ and could not fly anymore, so the AF retrained him to become a Sensor Operator on Pred's. While we were talking, I jokingly asked why was he sanitized...and he told me it's because leadership wanted them to be in a "combat" mindset before they went into the box. I though he was joking at first but then I realized he wasn't and then he proceeded to tell me how ridiculous he thought it was and even though he complained to leadership, he was told to "shut up and color." I don't know if sanitizing is practiced by the whole community, I can only speak for my friend...

Do they wear a helmet too? You never know when that shipping container they're flying might fall off its pallet.

Glad to see everyones priorities are in order!
Absolutely unbeleivable and how much time was spent coming up with this gem ?
How about a medal for the guy restocking the coke machine ?

Drone life doesn't have the same stresses as being in combat. But I still believe it would be very stressful from the demands for accurate target strikes and not having the same situational awareness that comes from being in the area of the strike. I'd much rather fly an f-16.
