Moose - PM me your situation. If you want to go to Laughlin, I can help you push those buttons and get you direct contact with those in the decision loop. In addition, the Reserve units there are hiring like crazy....just saying.

How's the lake level out at Amistead? That's where I learned to windsurf in 1983 but I've heard the lake is very low now?

How's Boy's Town and is Ma'Crosby's still open?

And what do they do with a class full of guys sitting around with no flying to be done for two months? I don't know if Boys Town would be enough entertainment, but I'd have been a hellofa good windsurfer after two months of practice!

Thanks for the info on Laughlin from those in the know. Turns out it's more maintenance then anything and they are very behind in training. The other bases are doing better. To the pilot from Laughlin currently instructing on the T6 keep my email address. Be glad to help you in 18 months if you make the jump.

Crosby's closed a couple of years ago.
With the perception of increased border violence, I'd be surprised if anyone decides to buy it and reopen. Shame. I loved going there... even if their margaritas were the worst in Acuna.

Is anything in business there anymore? Probably tough sledding after they stopped letting the STUDs go to Acuna. Crosby's + Corona Club made for a good cheap night out as a 2Lt.

Most of "main street" as you enter Acuna from the bridge is desolate and shops closed up. Corona Club may or may not be there or exist under a new name. Crosby's closed. Amigo Club or Club Amigo or whatever it was, across from Corona, is closed (long gone).

Nobody in their right mind goes to Acuna anymore, fairly dangerous and not a place to hang out anymore.

Lake Amistad WAY low. Still fishing tournaments etc tho

Info is current of of today

Don't forget the late night tacos from the taco cart on the walk back across the bridge.

and well, there's that standing order for all DoD personnel (not just students) which makes Mexico off-limits. That kinda hurts business too.
