Early Retirement Credit (Guard/Reserves)

Anyone have any pertinent information or results from the early retirement application processing times(The 90 day increment subtracted off of a reserve retirement for qualifying active duty service since Jan. 29, 2008). I have called arpc and the folks in Colorado that process the requests. I have been told they are processing from oldest to youngest in terms of age, which makes sense. Other than that they will not give so much as a rough estimate of completion for my request. I submitted my application in November of '13 and the super helpful person I spoke with said they have "lots" in front of me and that it would "be a while." Thanks in advance.

Are you pushing your adjusted pay start date?

I'm probably not going to even think about that until after I go into the grey area.

Mine has been sitting up there for well over a year. It gets "updated" every few months. I would not expect it to be finished until you are within a year of your adjusted retirement date. As stated, they are working from oldest to youngest, so please wait your turn! I am 8+ years from collecting retirement so I am not expecting much progress on my account for a long while...

No, not pushing the date at all. Just wondering why it's taking so long to do a relatively simple task. On the flip side, when I asked she informed me that they go page by page through your supporting documentation to make sure it matches what's online(that they can see) and that you're eligible. Another jobs program is what it sounds like to me. If the orders are cut correctly and the coding is good, which they can see online, it should be an automatic process. Oh well, we wonder why our government is broke. Thanks for the info guys.

Closed for "training" on Monday and Wednesday, and for a burger burn on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month.

"Sir, you need to step out of your 'flight suiter' mentality."--actually said to me once.

The bad thing is, that doesn't surprise me. It should, but it doesn't. We had mpf/css folks complain once that they were having to come out on a weekend to deploy us to the desert for four months. Fortunately, that issue/complaint did get squashed pretty quick.

This. I've often wondered why the **** we have to do this when they have all of the information right in front of them. I have to assume it's an attempt to deny some people early retirement - i.e., if someone doesn't jump through the hoops they don't get what they're due. I've considered filing an IG complaint about it. I've still got a ways to go so I'm not overly concerned, but it irritates me whenever I think about having to "verify" all of my orders for the past 10 years.

In March i inquired about my application and was told it would be years because There's no rush in my case (I'm 52 Yrs old) She said they're processing guys born in the 1954-55 timeframe. My guess is your package is on the back-burner till you approach age 60ish, and I fully expect to have a battle dealing with these folks when I approach my early retirement date. Keep all applicable paperwork and wait it out.
