Life in the Airforce

Sorry I didnt know where else to ask about this. I am currently in college in wisconsin. I am thinking of joining the Canadian Airforce. They have their ROTP entry plan which is you where you enrol in a university and are commishend as a cadet officer, they pay for all expenses. after obtaining your degree you under go officer training followed by flight training and so on. Would it be good to go into the airforce that way or wait it out in the states then join up after college?
On to my main question. I was wondering if any of you airforce guys could tell me what its like to serve in the airforce? I know the canadian airforce is a lot differant, but it should basicly be the same lifestyle. If I got what I wanted I would be flying F18's up north in cold lake.... or Quebec  (those are the only 2 F18 bases) Any guys been stationed at remote bases like that, how is life like at places like those?
Any advice, comments, stories, just anything to help give me a picture of what life would be like in the airforce would be greatly appreciated.

my ultimate goal is to get on the F18, then go to Edwards AFB test pilot school then serve as a test pilot in the states.

Not in the Air Force but I do know a couple guys that did the USMC F-18 exchange in Cold Lake. They loved it.

Ya I wouldnt mind goin to cold lake to fly the 18's. I think it would be amazing to fly the 18, even though it aint no F15. And our current government is wanting to eventualy get the F35's so maybe they will get those during my time in the airforce.
It seems the only bad thing about joining the canadian airforce is the MANDATORY french language course. It can take up to several months and you need it before you can begin officer or flight training
