No idea what you meant by your last statement, why ACLS can't be used? It can't be used on a severely pitching deck because it can't keep up...if you're out of cycle with the deck ACLS won't fix that.

Disregard, I miss read it. I didn't realize you said can't be used when pitching and rolling. I have have 10 landings on the big decks. It could be that the control law can't keep up.

I asked about this today. From what I understand there is a 2 second to land lock out that prevents further control changes in close, which could cause issues in higher sea states. In close with a sink due to the burble the jet can't react fast enough and will get over powered and sail past the wires; more burble the greater the affect. The new control.laws, majic carpet, will incorporate DLC and could easily overcome this issue and the 2 second lock out would not be required. F35 already has DLC and could handle this as well.

OK - I have to laugh at mentions of JPALS again and calling E/Fs "legacy" aircraft.
And andrewtac - - - your response to WhistlePig (especially regarding his fleet aircraft) makes me think that you don't understand his "press to land" comment.
Do you remember during your own CQ that in-close wiggling of the stick to stay up on the power but trying to kill that little bit of lift at the ramp by 'stiring the pot" being called 'poor man's DLC'?

I do not understand the press to land, please explain. I do understand stirring the pot. I've done it wingborne and jetborne.

I would think by definition E/F is legacy now. I don't think I said anything about JPALS.

WhistlePig can explain DLC from a user's standpoint better than I since I've only used the poor man's version.

Personally I'll wait to apply the Legacy label to E and Fs until the others at least make the fleet in appreciable numbers.

Copy all, I understand DLC. I was thinking "press to land" was in reference to a button to press. Perhaps he meant press the stick to land. DLC works in all modes in the 35 to include flying a traditional backside type approach with the throttle to control glide slope, auto throttle using the stick to fly glideslope, or delta flight path to control glide slope. I believe the Rhino will only use DLC for magic carpet.

I re-thought Rhino is legacy after I hit submit. I don't think there is a defined DOD term for what legacy actually means. I asked a couple folks and got different answers.
