Why is a crashpad not deductible? If you look in the code you can make a pretty good argument in the section about other than normal commuting expenses. It may save some bros some grief later if you have the bottom line as to why it is NOT deductible. Thanks.

Your domicile is considered your "tax home". Your crashpad is in your "tax home" and therefore cannot be deducted. This link explains it better.

I know i can find how much per diem the company gave me in box 12L on my W2. But one of my previous company didn't use that box, and i was told it's the same as "misc non-taxable comp". Does that sound about right?

Also, i read per diem deduction can't exceed 2% AGI, how does it work? Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, that's your per diem. The company has free rein over how to denote it on your W-2. I believe that Turbo Tax calls it that.

The 2% is that your expenses have to exceed 2% AGI before you can get the 80% deduction. It's a floor, not a cap.

Ok question. How do we claim per diem or is that already adjusted on our W2? Also how and where do we claim student loan interest paid?

Use EZPerDiem.com and the code "C1Q4L" to save 10%.

I just figured out my per diem between what my company pays me and what the government says is due to me.

Almost $3K difference.

I think that that is world the $29.95 plus the 10% savings with the code above.

Jeffrey

P.S. I wrote a review about it on my blog: http://www.flycrj.com/2010/01/01/how...ax-money-back/
