try throwing your total salary in for last year and seeing what you would have to make in 08 to keep up with inflation. ooooch.

I remember gas at $0.27 to $0.29 a gallon (with attendants, as well). During "price wars," I remember it as low as 21 cents/gallon. That was 1963.

I put that price in for 1963. Adjusting for inflation, gas should cost $2.05 in 2008.

No attendants to wipe your windshield, check oil, or put air in your tires, though.

I did a similar calculation based on $1.20 in the early 80's (when I was in HS) ...that's about $3.00 today.
