Ten Tax Facts

An interesting article from 2003. Has it gotten better?

10 Outrageous Facts About the Income Tax

But what would all these lawyers and accountants do if they could no longer feed at the IRS trough? Perhaps they can take flying lessons and try for a right seat at a legacy. ;)

I recall reading an article recently that the IRS was so short-handed that it could not go after people who underreported taxes owed. Millions of dollars are now not in the IRS coffers.

btw, this is off topic, but I am going to check out that Glock 19 today. Wheee!

Not to worry if you make $250,000 your taxes will not go up one cent. Or was that $200,000, no I think now it's $150,000, no it's now $120,000 and your taxes will not go up one cent. The new definition of "Wealth" $120,000/year. We are all in trouble and only have ourselves to blame.

Either way, we are going to have more money stolen from us through the force of government. It ****es me off enough that every year, my wife and I have more stolen to go to various government handouts, but it REALLY ****es me off that it is stolen from me to pay into social security and we will never see a dime of it again.

Gentlemen, please try to keep this apolitical.

One of the most glaring oddities of our tax system is the blatant discrimination. In a sense it is really the last bastion of government sponsored discrimination and as such it really needs to be treated as a violation of civil rights.
When almost half of Americans are paying no income tax and a ten percent minority are forced to pay 70% of the income tax, it has come to the point of extreme social injustice.
When you promise to rob A and give to B, one can count on B's support. In a sense this is a system designed to drive a wedge between the citizens of this country.
The solution? Everyone must pay the same rate. This would still require the top earners to pay more, but it would get everyone involved in the wonderful feeling of investing in this great country.

Flat tax. Right, that's not going to happen. That would level the playing the field. A term a certain group of people love to use. Instead they are going to take from me and give to someone who does not work. Where's the justice in that? The same people who the goverment is giving too have already robbed my house 2 times in the last 6 years.

Personally.... (I'm on the fringe).... but I think that only land owners and prior/current military pesonnel should have the right to vote.

I haven't been robbed yet--not making light of your situation River--but I will be come April. Just like every year. Flat tax is a good idea awaiting a politically sensible presentation, in an accommodating political milieu.
