Default Tax deduction for trips to combat areas?

Was told by several folks that we can take a tax writeoff if we flew into Iraq or Afghanistan. As told, our flight release serves as the documentation in lieu of orders. If so, anyone know how to make this happen using TurboTax?

Not a lot of bites, huh? I'm no expert, but I don't know of such an exclusion for a civilian. If you're military, then this explains it ...

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p3.pdf

and it says it should already be taken off your W-2.

Now go find somebody who knows what he's talking about.

(Hint: You won't find anybody here who qualifies).

If you find out differently about the subject, please post it here.
