Which credit card should I use???
FDX, UPS and other international vagabonds…
Which credit cards do y’all use nowadays when overseas? I noticed most credit cards are imposing new or additional fees on international transactions. Discover just sent me an email saying they’ll now impose a 2% "foreign transaction fee" on all purchases made in currencies other than the US dollar. My Bank of America Visa card has also increased their fees for each foreign currency transaction. A buddy of mine who has a stellar credit score said his Capital One card just increased his interest rate but also added some international transaction fees which they’d never done in the past. A few months ago I read (Washington Post I think?) that very soon all credit card issuers would begin imposing new or additional fees for foreign transactions. Cannot remember the details of the article but it had to do with a lawsuit which apparently the credit card industry had won. Now, I’m starting to see this new trend. So, those of you who’re doing lots of international flying, which credit card would you recommend for international transactions? Xié xié |
Well, I was using my Capital One card, with nary a fee. I haven't received any change in terms of service, and haven't been overseas since the beginning of January, so I am not sure if they are charging overseas fees.
P.S. Bank of America definitely is not the way to go. |
