extra income?

With all the pay cuts and hard times, has anyone been successful with earning supplemental income on the internet? I too am interested in doing something on the internet, just as supplemental income. I've been trying to educate myself. However, every time I try to research 'internet business' I am bombarded with sites for affiliate marketing and drop-shipping opportunites. I believe most of the sites are scams with affiliate links imbedded inside the webpages.

There was an old APC thread with ideas for earning additional income when not flying. I'd like to earn a little extra cash 24/7.

It would be nice if anyone on APC has been able to tap into the internet buiness world. Can anyone share some information, or PM me? No scams or B.S.. Just honest, useful information.

Thanks

I'm spinning up niche blogs monetized with Google Adsense. Plenty of people out there making some pretty solid passive income once the site ranks well for the target keyword(s). It takes a lot of work, however. A solid understanding of on- and off-page search engine optimization is key.

I fly part 91 as a contract pilot as well as do a random checkout here and there. Not exactly airline friendly but I stick to part 91 and do not log the time if I dont have too ie, pilot is qualified. Makes a few extra thousand a year.

My suggestion...

If you want to tap into the internet business industry, you're way overdue. The market is oversaturated and you don't make as much as the average blogger makes and that is 2 dollars an hour!

There are some good supplementary incomes that you can do. Get a camera and start taking pictures of your neighbors' house. You can get 150 dollars a house if you ask them if they would like it. Also, you can build up flight times as well and the money can cover your gas expenses.

That's simply not true.

The "average blogger" just doesn't know what he's doing; he doesn't know how to do proper keyword research (not just evaluating competition but income potential), doesn't know how to target keywords on his site, doesn't know how to do proper on- and off-site SEO, doesn't know to target multiple "cousin" keywords, etc.

If you properly do keyword research, put up rich content that targets that keyword (and no, I don't mean keyword stuffing or putting up thin spammy sites), and most importantly, get links(!), you can make good money online. It just takes patience and dedication. If you half-ass it or expect to simply put AdSense up on a social blog and make money, you're going to be sorely disappointed. You have to choose a profitable and non-competitive niche based around a product or service, build a site around it, and get links to it from related sites with specific and targeted anchor text. And most importantly, you don't stop until the site is #1 in Google for your search term. Again, people who expect to slap a site up on the web and immediately make money because they put AdSense on it will simply get frustrated and quit.

By the way, if the average blogger made $2/hr, every hour for a month, that's $1500/mo (and that's doable). :)

I started trading FOREX on my days off and although it took me a while, its becoming a great second income. Granted I have a background in technical trading but I have it set up with a black box now so trading continues when I'm on the road. I don't recommend it unless you know what you are doing or you'll get smoked
