Don't know about other airlines, but when I was with FedEx it didn't take long to reach the 2% threshold. ALPA dues alone almost got you there. If you did any International Flying, then your per diem was way under the allowable deduction. I kept a copy of the pairing along with my calendar for the month as documentation. Throw in part of your cell phone, laundry/dry cleaning fees, internet fees, etc. and it came out to pretty decent deduction every year. Never had any problems with an IRS audit over 16 years.
Of course, all of your total deductions were then limited but at least you got to start with a larger base deduction.

Tax question
Changed bases in 2013. Moved to new base in 2014. It was not a job change and I did not get displaced but I did make the move for work.
Can I claim the move or no?
Anybody have any good info on this?
