I don't know if every state lists their crime stats, but in Texas they do. They have break downs of all crime ranging from petty theft to rape and murder by gender, age, and ethnicity. People that have a concealed handgun license commit less than 1/10th of 1% of all crimes in the state of Texas. I'm sure those stats are going to be the same throughout the country. The counties in Texas that have the highest percentage of their population that have a CHL have the lowest crime rates, and the counties with the lowest percentage of CHL holders have the highest crime rates. But, if you are a part of the anti gun side facts like these don't seem to matter to you.

It is sad, but one particular demographic in the US it what propels our rate up, absent that demographic we have one of the lowest violent crime rates worldwide.
Laws have almost nothing to do with this, it is purely cultural. The Swiss don't do drive by, yet almost every adult male owns an automatic rifle.

I prefer to be a citizen, not a subject.
As to the original post, it was a discussion of economics that veered off to gun control, which isn't about guns but about control. I do not wish to be controlled.
(jungle, through in a good ayn rand quote here, I'm tired and off to bed.)
