Netjets Domicile Question
Hello guys,
Been recently looking at Netjets and Flexjet, just have a couple of quick questions.
If the city you live in is not part of the approved bases, can you list the one that’s closest to you and commute (drive) on your own time for your rotations? Let’s say you live 4 hrs away from the nearest base, and you want to drive there for every rotation start and end, would the company allow that?

Now, whether you would be rested enough to safely fly a leg or two after airlining somewhere is another question. But, yeah, it's doable.
Can't speak for Flex.

With NetJets, as long as you can report to your base at the briefed time, you could drive four hours or even more.

With NetJets, you can live where ever you want as long as you can be at your base at showtime. The brief has to come to you by 6:00 PM local at this latest and I never received a briefing earlier then 6:00 PM. The only stipulation is that we have had some crews fatigue on day 1 and blame their long commute and they were disciplined for it. The CBA states you will be rested for day 1 and the company has interpreted that to mean a lengthy commute is not an acceptable fatigue and if you have to pay for your hotel the night before, then so be it. We have some pilots that live outside the USA at times and commute in for work. Easy to do on the 7/7 schedule which is the default schedule. Also, I believe we can change bases every 7 days so it works great for those that do a lot of RVing.

The first is 100 bases. The second is a list of over 200 bases....which is called the HBA list. Everyone on property at the signing of the 2018 IBI could choose to be on this list.
Why they don't offer the HBA list to new hires as a way to attract talent is beyond me.
One thing that is available to all pilots is the ability to change your base every seven days. However, this is trial period and could expire in May. It would return to a 14 day notice if it did.

There are two basing lists at NetJets.

After 21 years on property, I still don't understand the difference between an HBA and a Base (Maybe because I'm in a Base with no intention of ever moving so I never cared to learn the difference...) Nor do I understand why both aren't available to all. But then there are waivered HBA's and Non-waivered HBA's and Green Bases and and and....it makes my head hurt.
Long story short for RA550, you'll be able to live "almost" anywhere you want and make it work but there will be some "conditions."

Just wondering if it would be similar to other fractionals, or maybe they do list my airport there. Just curious.

Attached is the HBA list, which does change as airline service changes. I'll attach the crew base list in a separate reply since I'm limited to one attachment per post. This is what applies to new hires, at least until the next contract. I strongly suspect newer pilots will be brought under the HBA list eventually.

So I just saw that my home airport is on the HBA list!! So what does that mean? Or what’s the difference from a normal Base?
