Out of curiosity, how many hours are you Netjets pilots flying per tour? I know tour lengths vary, so feel free to include that info.

I’m on the 7/7 Latitude, I always averaged in the high teens to low 20’s. Lately I’ve been averaging around 27 hours per tour.

I’m in the phenom, typically low 20’s to low 30’s.

Good morning. Now that NetJets has officially come out and said they plan to hire 150 pilots by the end of they year, does anyone have any prediction on upgrade times going forward? I know no one has a crystal ball, but the current 10-15 years is my only reservation before I hit submit on the application.

We could double in size in a span of two years. Or we could pause hiring for many years immediately after you get hired. Both scenarios have happened in the last 20 years. If you want to work here, then apply. Take the upgrade when it comes your way in a job that most are making a good career out of. If a fast upgrade is what you are after, there are other places where that is more of a sure thing.

Trust me I understand the reservation on the upgrade time as I am living it. Ask yourself this, why do people stick around NetJets as SICs for 15 years and not leave to chase the quick upgrade? Maybe because they get paid well and have a QOL that they can live with. Upgrade times will probably drop to the 10 year point by 2025.

There will probably be around 1000 retirements/ medical outs over the next decade since pilots make enough to save well now and the average pilot here is now mid 50s. With somewhere around 2350 pilots currently, even if NetJets stays the same size, 10 years will probably get an upgrade if hired now. If we truly grow, then it could be faster. That said, SIC here is a pretty descent job.

I would probably still go for the majors or cargo if I was young and looking for my next/ last step up. You can make pretty good money now at NetJets, but you are definitely going to earn it. You will straight up work a lot harder here than at the majors or cargo. There are definitely good things that NetJets offers that you don't have at the majors or cargo, but I still don't believe they outweigh the QOL you will give up. The Globals and whatever is next for biggest/ bestest will still take forever to get into, even as an SIC, and that is the only descent QOL within NetJets.

Yeah no doubt those other avenues make more sense. However my family doesn't really want to move and I'm not in a very commutable location for 121, so this is my main draw to Netjets.

The no commute is definitely the biggest thing we have. I like my job. I like not having to commute and that was a big part of what drew me to NetJets (though I did have to spend a couple of years in CMH, I still knew I would have a choice before too long). Good luck.
