Before Covid, they were hiring pretty steady. I guess priorities have shifted even though business is going well for them.

In my line of work (121 pilot), captains can’t fly right seat unless they are a check airman.
It's not a 121 rule that captains can only occupy the left seat unless they are a LCA. Betting it's a contract thing with your airline. on the Supplemental side, several 121 airlines do right seat dependency at recurrent training and will assign PIC's as SIC if required. You are correct that a PIC cannot act as PIC from the right seat unless they are a LCA

In this career, you need a plan A, B, and C. For many, plan A will never work out. I still wouldn’t lose all hope. All places go through hiring and non hiring waves. They will hire again. Hopefully soon. Also, those ten year upgrades will come down. It’s stagnant now, but there still are a ton of retirements at the top 121 ladder. That will have to create movement. If not, the whole airline industry is toast.
Very well said.

It’s my understanding that 2020 was the biggest sales year ever for marquis cards in the history of that product with NetJets. That product continues on an outstanding sales trend. Wealthy people tend to be some of the most frugal people. They wouldn’t just throw away $250K. So, there is going to be a certain percentage of conversion from marquis card member to fractional ownership. The current fleet and pilot population is going to be able to support that surge in marquis member travel and subsequent fractional ownership conversion??

As flying increases (and attrition slowly increases), so will our eventual need to hire.

One problem in the 135 world is no mandatory retirement age. Many young pilots, age wise, would fly the challenging environment of fractional, but won't apply due to no real upgrade timeline.

Hang in there. Been in your seat before and know the feeling.

We’ll be hiring again, I hope by summertime. The 4.7 number is merely a number. I highly doubt we can cover the schedule that lean.

I have no reason to believe you would try to deceive me. All the info I get from others on this forum is the exact opposite.

I know its been said already, but if you pin all your hopes on getting hired at NetJets, you could be setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. They are very picky about who they hire. The fact that you made it to the in person interview is a good sign, but I know multiple solid candidates from my current company who didn't make the final cut.

Not trying to burst your bubble but it's good to have a backup plan. Maybe flex or Wheels Up. Having said that, I hope it works out for you. You obviously want to work there which will help you, if and when you go to Columbus.

Good luck.

my backup is to stay where I am, take the upgrade when I can get it and keep all my seniority. I will go for any additional pay available. Check airman, instructor, etc.

If a good engineering opportunity comes along (my previous life), I may take it, but it has to be a pretty amazing opportunity. I just like flying too much.
