DFW is closer to the house.

At DAL you'll start and end trips there in a NetJets tail a fair amount, no hassle with an airline. When you do airline it's frequently going to be ground trans from DAL to DFW unless SWA has a good route to where you're going.

Number 1 advantage to basing at DAL: You'll make "A List" on SWA fairly quickly which means you board no worse than about #60 which means NO MIDDLE SEATS. EVER.

I get middle seats half the time on AA and Delta and I'm Gold on both. Our flights are booked so late that nothing is left but middles on everybody but SWA. When you're 6-4, 215, it makes a yuuuge difference.

That's more great information. Do you have to 2 leg often on SWA?

I don’t live in Dallas but another major SWA hub. Ever since the Wright Amendment expired, non-stops to pretty much everywhere are available out of DAL.

I’ve grown to appreciate LUV a whole lot more since reaching A List. Doesn’t matter if the company booked it 10 days or 10 minutes prior to departure. Never worry about overhead bag space or a middle seat, and the crews actually extend professional courtesy to visiting crewmembers. Rarely the case on the other Big 3.

Thanks for all the great info in this thread!

Am I understanding right that you could be on the CC72 for up to 7 months after IOE? So, for example, if you finish IOE in November after bidding for the February period has closed (since I read bidding is 3 months before the next period), you could end up having to wait until March to bid for the June period, and fly the CC72 November through May?

Also, I saw you can ask for the 7/7 once you're done with IOE; could you also ask for the CC60, or only the 7/7? I understand it's unlikely you'll get it now, just curious what's even possible.

Thank you again!

The 7/7 schedule is the “base” schedule, meaning it must be offered after completion of IOE. They only have to offer one 7/7 schedule (e.g. start date), but may offer more depending on fleet assignment. You may choose to stay on the CC72 or select one of the 7/7 options offered. I believe they may have also offered me one or more 8/6 options, but that is not required. Accordingly, you could ask about available CC60 or CC76 options, but they would only last until the next bid period. Then you must bid for what you will hold by seniority for the next trimester or year, depending on which bid period it is.

I was offered: one 7/7 line, various 8/6 lines, CC72, CC76 right out of IOE.

Cheers

Did the 8/6 lines offered have mid week starts? What about the 7/7?
