NJA orders Global 8000's
 

Launch customer for the Global 8000 which has a (take a guess)........8000 mile range. They'll eventually have 24 of them, some will be converted 7500's already owned:

And the young bucks are welcome to them. They can experience the joy of 14 hour legs and 9 time zone changes.

Does NJA have company specific rest rules that go beyond those of 91k/135?

Any flight crossing 5 time zones requires at least 14 hours off before the duty period starts. Any duty day that goes over 16 hours (augmented crews) gets at least 24 hours off after the duty period. Unfortunately the 5 time zones rule doesn't do anything for long north/ south flights.

What does the crew rest facility look like?

The owners will stay in the crew rest area. The pilots will hang out in the private bedroom in the back. It's going to be in the new IBB.

How do they typically crew flights of 12-15 hours in the biz-jet world? One Capt, 3 FOs? Or 2 and 2? Do they use a cruise pilot? Can you actually get meaningful sleep in the rest area?

I believe it is basically the same as on the majority of our 6000s- it is a seat that once out of sterile, can be laid flat along the bottom of the area which allows a bunk, that is stowed against the wall, to swing out and form bunk beds. Separate curtains can be set up for top and bottom. There is probably close to 7 feet of length and probably about 3 feet across- wider and longer than international business class, but a fairly low ceiling for each bunk. I honestly sleep way better in these bunks than international business class since there is more space. It is necessary to have a sleep mask and earbuds for white noise or music to sleep well in there since the flight attendant is right next to you and making a lot of noise that may wake you up without earbuds. I never took a pic of it.

Thanks, sounds like you can get some good sleep, which is a must when flying 12+ hours! I’ve done a lot of long haul flying (12-17hrs) over the last 20+ years and the only thing that makes it safe is being able to sleep soundly for at least 4-6hrs. It’s got to be dark and quiet for me sleep!

We use 2 Captains, 2 FOs, but I know most places use 1 Captain, 3 FOs. What does NetJets use?
