I'm curious about the wait myself. I haven't put an application in as of yet, due to the fact that I'm on active duty until December of this year. Just wondering when I should submit an application just to sorta time this thing right? If you interview and are offered a job, how far out ahead can you choose a class?

Thanks

To answer waflyboy, In my group of 10, 5 were old (60ish) airline guys and 5 were young guys (25-35). With the change to age 65 I would guess the old candidates are drying up.

My group interviewed approximately couple weeks ago still no word to any of us either. We hope sometime next week. Best of luck to you.

And an answer to an earlier question everyone in our group had Turbine PIC in a Jet.

I heard from someone who interviewed this week that the first interview group of the year had 3 out of 11 hired. His group was told that they were going to try and rush things through so they could start calling people today so new hires could give two weeks notice. He said D.M. was pushing things to fill a Feb 4. class. Apparently this new hiring director from U.S. Airways is tightening the screws on the interview process in order to get the very best (yet they still need 400 pilots this year). Best of luck to everyone!

Junglejet, would you mind saying your experience and quals to give us an example of a hiree? For others, I understand there is a period of time between applying and having an application "accepted," and then another period of time before being invited for an interview. How long does it take for an applicant to hear of the application being accepted? Is accepted synonymous with received or does it mean something more?

I just received my app accepted e-mail on the 17th. I sent the packet in on the 14th of December so it was just over a month. And that included the holiday period in there so I would think in a normal month it would be a bit shorter.

I had about 3800TT with just shy of 1000pic (which means ZERO here). Regional CA.

I applied August...accepted Sept...interviewed Dec 19 and hired two days later. Started class last week.

Everyone needs to know that there are some serious changes in the hiring process...big changes. Whatever you hear today, may change tomorrow. I know that sucks but they are working through those changes in an effort to make things better. The sim check is being addressed big time. It may even go away! Know your stuff...know how to fly.....think outside the box...and you will do ok.

It is WELL worth the effort!
