NetJets Ownership Surge

Anyone catch the interview today with Jordan Hansell and Warren Buffett? Jordan said ownership has surged 55% and they have been setting other records as well. Check it out if you haven't seen it:

Wealth Effect Fuels 55% Surge in New NetJets Owners

good interview. I like how they had the New Global 6000 in the background, the so called "flagship"

I hear we now have 6 Globals on property

Meanwhile 2 G-V classics and 3 G-IVs left the fleet last week

The Gulfstream era at Netjets is coming to a close. Oh well, it was good while it lasted

are the new Globals on the Netjets card program

not sure, I don't see why not, but not sure

They're moving most Gulfstream owners right into the Globals pretty good it seems.

yesterday one passenger said he took one of the Globals to Budapest a couple of weeks ago, he really liked the airplane

This is why I see recalls being a ways off...

If you look at the simple math from a pilot per a/c perspective and factor in how many a/c NJA lost over the last 3 years, it will take roughly 20 additional airframes to begin a serious need for recalls. (Assuming 6.2 pilots per a/c and 2550 active pilots..(just an rough estimate) NJA added 6 Globals over the last 6 months (est.) and lost 5 a/c within a week. And there are alot of small and midsize planes in the fleet needing to be replaced.

I came to realize that although flying is up, and crews are working harder, it still only takes "X" amount of pilots to crew an a/c for a 24 hr period (assuming it flew all 24 hrs).. Recalls will only occur when a threshold of airframes is met. (or people leave at a greater rate than 2-3 per month)

Owners flying more is great of course, and it creates a need for more pilots per a/c...but only up to a point (in 2007: 3100 pilots/ 500 a/c = ratio 6.2)

Assuming the same ratio I estimate 410+/- a/c needed to start a small recall.

I"m one of those hoping the company offers furloughed guys F/O positions at Netjets China (for those that are interested).

If they offer furloughed people the chance to get a good type-rating (G-450/550, 7X, Global), I'm sure they'd have some takers, hell those types are worth around $50-60K.

But now we're talking unions and contracts, and other things. that's a can of worms
