Ok, I understand the difference between the 3 schedules, 15-day, 18-day, 7-on. What I'm wondering is what is the possibility of getting the 18-day or 15-day vs. the 7-on? I'm thinking about applying but doing the 7-on/7-off sounds rough. I'm former 121 (regional) now doing 135 and like the idea of the 15 or 18-day schedule as it seems like it's more like the airline lifestyle. Is it seniority based or do you get to choose? Can you switch between them to see which you like best? Thanks!

Disclaimer: there are several exceptions to the following information but this is a basic rundown. Also as of yesterday we have a TA so schedules will change if it passes.

7/7 is the default schedule. We do 4 month bid periods, OCT-JAN, FEB-MAY, and JUN-SEP. October is the open bid period. Depending on fleet there are several 7/7 lines to choose from with different start days. If you are awarded a particular line in OCT you can not be bumped off of it for the whole year. They can shift your 7 work days up to 4 days to accommodate training. You will know by the 15th of the month before. You can change 7/7 lines in FEB or JUN if they are available but can't bump someone out of their line.

The 18 day is more like an airline schedule. By the 15th of the month before the company will build your monthly schedule with tours ranging from 3 to 8 days long with anywhere from 3 to 7 days off before your next tour depending on tour length. You can put in preferences for certain days off, tour length etc but the company is under no obligation to grant your requests. This schedule is available to no more than 40 percent of the pilots in seat/fleet. You can usually get it if you want it. Also while going through training and before a bid period you will be on the 18 day training schedule and associated 18 day pay. They pretty much own you during training and can do what they want with you until off IOE.

The 15 day flex is available to only 10 percent of the pilots in each seat/fleet and typically goes very senior so I would not worry about it. You have no set schedule and you call in every night to see if you go to work the next day. If you do then they cannot send you out more than 5 days and when you return you get a minimum of 3 days off before you start calling in again every night. They can not work you more than 15 days in the month. People like the shorter tours but hate not knowing their schedule. This schedule is going away if the new TA passes.

You can go between the 3 at each bid period assuming you have the seniority and you can always get 7/7 but it may not be the line you want.

I honestly don't think they are even taking applications right now. They have built up a pool and people interviewing now are being told class dates will be in 2016. Good luck

Thanks for the info! I currently do no have an internal rec as I do not know anyone there. I'm currently flying left seat in a Citation under 135 and am on call everyday. I have a young one at home so I'm looking for something with a schedule. Thanks again!

I was only on the 18 day for a few months, and then I could not hold it in my fleet. However, during that few months I had 7 day tours most of the time with a few days off in between. In my limited experience, the company hates short tours and you will not get less than 6 days very often.

18 day is pure misery, seldom are your requests honored.

Agreed. I've been here over 9 years, and still can't get it.

Good explanations here. If this TA passes there will be additional scheduling options. I'm not in much of a position to explain it, but in a nutshell 7/7 will still be there, 15 day goes away, 18 day sees some changes.

TA ratified 12/20/2015 with new schedule types and pay scales. 15 and 18 day schedules no longer exist under the new contract.

7/7 Schedule will remain as the default schedule and is available to all pilots in every fleet and seat.

It will be joined by 4 new schedule types based on days worked during a 4-month period. The new schedule types will be based on a preferential bid system.

° 52-day Schedule (avg 13 days per month)
° 60-day Schedule (avg 15 days per month)
° 72-day Schedule (avg 18 days per month)
° 76-day Schedule (avg 19 days per month)
