Hired at Commutair
 

Looks like I'm going to Commutair on the 18th for 1900D training!

Any words of advice, encouragement?

Congrats and good luck. The Best Western is good, it was my home for 6mons I was there. For food, you'll enjoy the 99 next door, the Lum across the street, Friendlys, and good old Perkins on the other side of the bridge. If anyone has car may I reccommend Geoffrys Pub(spelling maybe off a bit). If they still have it, I used to get 2 for one Prime Rib. Thats some good eating. I am surprised your not on the Dash? I here they are pretty nice.

When I went to the career fair in MCO and talked to them, they said I didn't have enough multi time. Then they turned around about a week later and asked me to interview, but I declined.

My times were about 870/105. Written was no sweat, just review your instrument stuff and read through an ATP test prep. Face to face was definitely the most involved one I've had so far (compared to Comair, Colgan). Nothing tricky but lasted 30-45 mins. They're not just running through the paces like other places, they really do want to know how you think and what kind of personality you have. Even spread of HR and tech questions. Something interesting, I was asked a question about something on my letter of recommendation which caught me a little off guard. I stumbled on a few things, but they fair and gave me a chance to save myself. Study Jepps too.

They're running transition classes now for current CA's& FO's into the Dash, still hiring into 1900s, for now... 1900's will be gone within 2 years, but most likely before then. Either way, I can't wait to fly both.

They seem pretty solid on having your 100 multi. Just get the time, they need people, same as everyone else.

Beyond that, it was great experience (see first sentance on every Commutair gouge on aviationinterviews.com for the last year). The day I was up there, they were having a retirement BBQ for one of the senior flight ops guys (director:confused: ). Small company makes for an extremely personal atmosphere. everyone knows eachothers names and everyone seems really happy and proud to work there. Offices & hanger are on a taxiway just off the runway complex at an uncontrolled field, so it reminded me of the way the airport I grew my wing at used to be. And to top it all off, they share the taxiway with another hanger flying 3 DC-3's. Got to take a walk around and look in the cockpit.

Training and MX are reported to be top-notch by friends who have flown for Commutair and other regionals.
