I think they had their reasons for each person they fired, but the way they did it was still wrong. We lost some really good pilots who put some descent time in with PenAir. I wonder what they have in store for the Saab...

No. You are in the United States, where corporate welfare comes first. Remember this.

FWIW, I was up at Era the other day and things seem to be on an even keel; they no longer have DHC-6s and have three 1900Ds in the new paint (lookin' sharp!) on the property. No word on hiring, though...

At will employment works both ways. This is a capitalist society and a business owner has the freedom to make a profit. What you are referring to would be more common in an ill performing socialist environment.

Smile The recent firings.....

Well it seems that Penair Mgt has done it again. Their inability to plan and execute has shown us once again that they think like horses; they look around like horses and they get scared like horses.

The recent firings show us that they lack any integrity with regards to a employer to employee relationship. With everyone that was terminated, I'm sure the company had their reasons. They could have done it in seniority order. Of the people that were let go, 5 of the 10 had worked for the company close to five years. For anyone that is raising a family, this has caused a huge burden I'm sure. The problem is that most of the pilots here are spineless and would not even consider becoming unionized, which would keep management from doing stuff like this.

Their training is also a joke....take this spring for example. Within a one month period, they destroyed a saratoga, a goose and a metro. Thankfully no one was seriously injured. Did I mention that a Metro management pilot flew an aircraft with a near inoprative rudder, that he knew about before he took off.

Is this really a company that you would like to work for?

I've got a close buddy at PenAir that I lost contact with over the years, and I'm wondering if he's still there. I'm not about to mention specific names, but I know he is/was a captain on the Metro and has been there since around 2000.......his initials....TT. Is he still there, or was he one of the unfortunate 5 that was let go? Just curious. If you know him and he's still around, tell him an old buddy from UND says hello! Just so he knows who I am....He got me an interview at PenAir in 2003, and we went Salmon fishin' the same day. Thanks.

Do they have a training contract that might help them? It may help the pilot for once.
