I would see most newbies, especially Capts, spending some quality freighter time either initially or anytime while on RSV regardless of base.

There are also a lot of targets you must meet for all the bonus money and as someone else mentioned, it’s mostly company discretion with a deadline 1.5 years away. The bonuses are already tied to 2 and 5 years so you actually may not get them.
Depends on how you view it. Yes flying on the backside of the clock can be difficult and is not for everyone. But the actual flying is pretty easy. just 2 legs (versus 4 or even 6). Direct destination 99% of the time. Shorter duty length than the pax side. Done by 7 to 8am. The weather is fairly tame. I'd say the challenge is having to rely on the wx radar and ATC to avoid large cells since we cannot see anything at night. Though, the return leg to AFW usually has a little daylight, especially now with the longer days.

Without a doubt, that hardest part for me was sleeping during the day. If you are at your own home, it helps. Mix in a spouse and kids, it’s a little sporty. Sleeping in a hotel, during the day, I’d rather just sleep in the cargo hold.

Thumbs down I’d imagine

Some of those freighter flight are 2, 2.5 hours, each way. With no toilet, I can only imagine if there were an “event”. I can probably guess there aren’t any women on those flights?
With all the open positions in the industry right now, why would anyone do this to themselves?

What the lines are like?
How the bonus, up to 28,500 really works?
Is it in fact now 12 days off on RSV?
I’d imagine it will be 6 months plus on RSV if you join as a Captain?

Thank you
Lines are day trips. Home every night unless you break and you can't MEL and/or ferry back. Min 12 days off (including RSV). 90-95 hours credit. More senior lines will see 14-15 days off. Mostly 4 leg days/10-12 hour duty. There are some shorter days with only 1 roundtrip/2 legs.
Yes the bonus payouts are as advertised. AFW will see a little more.
Direct Entry Captains likely on reserve for 6 months plus, but that is expected at just about any operation with DEC. AFW might see shorter reserve as long as the base can grow. There are (senior) pilots that bid down to reserve so even junior pilots that may appear to hold only reserve will get a line from time to time.

There are female pilots in AFW. I haven't seen any issues with the 2+ hour legs. Just don't down a coffee or water before departure.

Does anyone know what bases are junior right now? And can anyone tell me what a typical schedule looks like?

There are three bases - FLL, TPA and AFW (Amazon Prime Cargo). You basically can get any of the three. They are desperate for pilots in all three. I think they need pilots the most in FLL as of this second, but realistically you will get which ever base you want at this point.

AFW Schedules right now are three days on (Flights leave about midnight and come back around 7 and 8am), then three days off, but I've heard they're going to be changing to 5 on 5 off.
FLL and TPA schedules vary from 1 day trips to 5 day trips, each day you could have an out and back turn or 4 legs... Most are 4 legs days. Regardless, you're back in your base/domicile at the end of every night.

If you'd like more info feel free to send me a PM.

No SJU?

How are the schedules down there compared to up in FL?

Sorry, totally forgot about SJU. I don't know much about that side of the flying, but looks like they are very similar to FLL and TPA. Back home each night, 1 to 4 day trips. Much shorter legs though.

Talking You might want to consider

Connect Airlines. Go look up their website. They have better pay and bonuses and you won’t have to fly night freight. Just another option is all.

On APC it shows connect starts at $45. Silver starts at $52.
