So anyone currently at Silver or recently leave can shed some light on where pilots are going? Majors or LCC or regionals? I'd really appreciate it, trying to decide if Silver is a right fit, the base is 15 minutes from me so seriously considering.

Thanks

Does anyone know the fine print in their "emerging aviators program"? I see that if have 250-1000 and need CFI/CFII/MEI, they will give up to $10,000 towards that. Then under 1001-1450 they offer $5,000 and ATP/CTP.

So if you come in with 250-1000 hrs, do they not cover ATP/CTP when the time comes?

Also, what is the contract required once at 1500?

Correct me if I am wrong, but this would be a similar type of program like the one Ameriflight has with Epic Aviation, but instead of flying cargo you fly for a 121 operation with Silver Airways?

You still come up with the money for CME, CFI, II, and MEI up front on your own? All that Silver Airways does is that:
1. You have a job with Silver Airways when you get to ATP minimums?
2. They reimburse you 10K?

Do you know the commitment with them?

Default Anyone currently working at Silver???

I am considering Silver as well I live in Florida. I did a skype interview with them the other day waiting to hear back. Does anyone on here currently work for Silver that could give me some insight on how much flying is going on? How much flying can one expect on reserve? How about once you hold a line can you credit over 75 hours?

Default New FO at Silver

I can answers some of the questions about Silver. I am a new FO based at MCO. I started in the April 2018 class and I got to the line at the end of June.

ATP/CTP: I came in with 1500 hours. Silver paid for my ATP/CTP course and FAA ATP knowledge test fee and for that I signed an agreement that I would stay at Silver for one year. The value of the agreement is $5000 to be paid back if I leave early. I think they reduce the amount I owe by 25% after each quarter with the company.

Emerging Aviators Program: I did not use this program. I recommend talking to one of our recruiters to get the details. There was an Army helicopter pilot in my class who used the program to build fixed wing multi time.

Training: All new hires go to the SAAB. Average class size is about 6 (mine had 5). Ground school is 4 weeks in FLL. Sim is in MIA and takes 3-4 weeks. OE is 30 hrs and takes about another 2-3 weeks to complete. Training cycle is straight through with a short break after the Sim before starting OE. The SF340 type ride is a PIC type ride from the left seat.

Bases: The bases are MCO, FLL and TPA. My class was awarded their first choice. From what I've heard, subsequent classes also got their first choice of base.

Bonus: I'm eligible for $12000. I received $3000 after OE. Then $3000 at end of first year. $6000 at end of second year.

Reserve: A 90 minute call out. 11 days off a month. I have been on Reserve since finishing OE in June. I have been flying about 30 hours a month. I anticipate being on Reserve 2-3 more months while we get through the slow season.

Current Pay: FO start at $34.77. Per diem $1.90. Monthly guarantee 75 hours.

CBA: The contract negotiations have been underway for over a year. The union and the company meet on a regular basis. I do not know how long the remainder of the process will take.

ATR: The sim is also in MIA. There is one aircraft with a Silver livery at the MCO Hanger. There are 4 others ready to go sitting at ATR in France. I've heard the Company anticipates receiving FAA certification by the end of this year.

Moving on from Silver: I know of pilots who've recently left for Spirit and Frontier. I've heard of a few that left for other regionals.

I think I've captured all the questions from previous posts. If I missed something or if you have more accurate information, please add to the thread. PM me with specific questions and I'll try to get you an answer.

Thanks for your post. 2 further questions:

-How long from interview to starting class
-Any updates on the contract situation?

Thanks for your post. 2 further questions:

-How long from interview to starting class?

There is a ground school class that starts every month usually on the first Monday of the month. Most people start the next month after they accept an offer unless they need more time to complete ATP/CTP or some other reason.

-Any updates on the contract situation?

The contract is still under negotiation. I really don’t know how long it will take to complete.

Default Silver Captains

Hello All!
I'm currently flying 121 world, thinking of changing lanes to stay Fla. Based. Any Captains at Silver that wouldn't mind giving me the "inside scoop" there, would be appreciated if you could message me....
Thanks in advance!

This place is great. I’ve been here roughly five years from another regional and love it. There’s a lot of rumors that Moxy might come in and hire a lot of us as street Captains down the line, so morale is high. Crews are great. Only downside is we don’t use use jet bridges and a lot of the times it rains in Florida. Could be worse, could be at Via Air lol
