Trump proposes eliminating EAS
#11
Considering what we are currently spending for Trumps weekly trips to Mar A Lago and to protect his wife that has an aversion to spending time with her husband in the White House - the EAS program is a drop in the bucket. That's also going to be a lot of lost jobs from the guy so big on job creation. This is just a constant war on anything socialistic in principle.
I'm not opposed to ideas of making the service more popular or efficient in expenditure, but there isn't a whole lot of logical thought coming out of the Oval Office these days. Just my .02.

I would hate to see EAS go. Good for pilot jobs, especially now that everyone needs to build 1500 hours before moving on.
I'm pretty happy that all those old and rural voters in the flyover states and rust belt that voted for Trump seem to be the people getting screwed the most by his policies. This is just another example.

Just because it is in Trump's budget doesn't mean Congress will pass it completely. I am willing to bet that it will stay because too many Congressmen have their fingers in the pie just like every other pork-barrel project.
In fact yesterday I spoke to a friend of mine in Congress and asked him about it. He specifically said "don't bet on Congress actually cutting anything"...... so as I suspected, it is here to stay.

The guy has achieved absolutely nothing, unless you consider insulting our allies, spewing ridiculous conspiracy theory's and walking back on his campaign promises as "doing more."
The guy is a disgrace, an embarrassment, an incompetent fool who has no business being in charge of the most powerful military on the planet.
You got duped.
As far as EAS is concerned, if it didn't get axed during sequestration, I doubt it will suddenly disappear with this administration. Even if the mighty baby in chief threatens to throw his toys out of his pram if he doesn't get his way.

A true fiscal conservative would still be incensed about how much money he's wasting on security in NYC and Mar a Lago, grinding palm beach to a halt every weekend and shutting down a huge chunk of Florida's airspace so he can go golfing every weekend.

EAS has been pronounced dead more times than Generalissimo Francisco Franco.
By administrations and congresses of both parties.
But, as the late Tip O'Neill always said, "All politics is local".
Sure, let's cut gummint spending... but not in my district.
The same dance has been going on with Amtrak for decades. Congress threatens to slash funding to the rail system every fiscal year; until Congressman Bluster is told that it will mean the loss of passenger rail service in his district.
And then somehow, Amtrak gets funded every year.

........ And you want to argue about logic?
Oh as far as Trump is concerned. Yes, I voted for him. The guy has done more in two months the Obama has done in 8 years. Give the guy a chance, if and when industry jobs are lost, then you have all the proof you need to call him out on it, and so will I.
Arguing with the left is pointless.

You're certainly not one to talk about logic

This is utterly preposterous. Politics aside, what a dumb statement. Heck, we're not even in the next fiscal year. All Trump has done so far is make cabinet appointments, a Supreme Court nomination and Tweet baseless accusations.

Its ironic that some people are on here are arguing that rural communities should have their "essential" air service axed, but are fine with the president and his entourage wasting huge sums of money and resources so he can whack a small white ball around a field with a metal stick every weekend.
What a joke.
