Default After Ameriflight

Hi,

I am wondering what prospects a person will have after flying 18 months as a captain for Ameriflight (BE99). Currently have 135 mins and looking to use Ameriflight as a stepping stone.

Thanks.

Thats clear as mud.
You've flown as a Captain for 18 months and you only have 135mins now?
How does that work?

Regional or charter is very common. ULCC or ACMI less common. Major or legacy is all but untouchable if AMF is your first professional job.

I currently am at 135 mins, looking into Ameriflight to see if it is a good career choice.

You can go to a regional airline, or a place like TMC and fly corporate jets.

Hopefully you won't still be a BE99 captain by 18 months.

Meanwhile the people who waited five months to go straight to a regional are 13 months ahead of you on the seniority list at your next job.

And to where will this stepping stone lead? This is where some of the replies are subtly (or not so subtly) asking? Major / legacy? Probably not unless your wife is the HR rep and your dad is a senior captain.

But it can lead to a regional which in turn can lead to a legacy. However, your 135 time is irrelevant and may even be a detriment to your training in the 121 world if the airlines are your ultimate goal.

I'm not knocking 135 cargo, but ask yourself this question: why would I sign a training contract in this hiring environment?

This type of flying is at best risky and at worst downright dangerous. The two who went into CRW the other night is just one of many examples.

Just suck it up at regional if your ultimate goal is an airline.
