Move to the 121 Dash 8 side, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, ability to commute. These are the reasons I will be applying this summer as my VFR Pt135 seasonal job ends. That said, I would rather be closer to home here in Western Colorado / Arizona but we shall see what opportunities arise as I approach IFR mins. Not in a position to just move anywhere for job, so quality of flight time and ability to commute are high on my list.

The only thing keeping them remotely competitive is the $15k/yr retention bonuses. I am in 119 management at a small operator and we actually picked up a Hageland guy BEFORE the pay cut. Their daily rates seem to be about $100/day lower than standard. I have seen some companies such as Wrights Air Service and Bering offering up to $500/day for experienced Van drivers, in stark contrast to the $297/day starting at H6. We are at $400/day but with 401k matching, good insurance, and confirmed seats home anywhere in the country people seem to be willing to make a little less. It used to be Hageland was *the* place to be if you enjoyed that style of flying. This is no longer the case in my opinion.
