Ive got an interview for the coop program on Thursday, if there's anything in particular you want to know I'll ask. Already have a page or so of my own questions, couldn't hurt to have a few more.

Hi, all!

Hoping to clear a few things up!
  • The UPS/Ameriflight agreement is not considered a flow through. It's a gateway program.
  • It's only open to UPS Airlines Intern Program participants. Here's how it will work: Pilot goes through UPS intern program, then to Ameriflight, then to UPS Airlines.
  • Currently, there are two pilots training at AMF in the gateway program.
  • While the majority of our pilots cannot be in the program (since the majority of our pilots are not in the UPS intern program), this is certainly a positive program for all of our pilots. The program will provide both airlines with more flight crew personnel and for Ameriflight pilots, yes, that means more time off. Our goal is to get all of our pilots on a 4 on, 3 off schedule. The program also opens the door to future programs with UPS that will be available for every AMF pilot.
  • The press release/memo on page 1 of this thread only announces the program. The actual signed agreement is 7 pages long and lays out clear time and hour requirements in order to define the career path.

Didn't clear much up at all, can you lay out the timeline and requirements going from day 1 UPS intern, to then being hired back as a pilot for UPS?

Since it is UPS' gateway program, this sounds like more of a question on a thread involving UPS rather than AMF.

So a thread about the AMF gateway program isn't the place to ask specifics about the AMF gateway program? Why would anyone at UPS know or even care about the program?

The OP posted a blurb copy/pasted from an internal communication from the UPS Chief Pilot to UPS pilots, involving a program for UPS interns (ie. college seniors or very recent graduates) to go to AMF after completion of the intern program to gain flight experience before going back to UPS as pilots.

It is safe to assume UPS initiated this program, not Ameriflight...but that it can serve as a win/win for both companies.

Not sure what is so difficult to understand, or why you seem to have such interest in beating this thing to death...

I don't know the timeline from day 1 as a UPS intern. We are not involved in the UPS Airlines Intern Program, so I wouldn't be able to tell you on that regard.
Once the interns are selected for employment with AMF, they will go through our hiring process, training process, and will be released to fly the line as AMF pilots. Before they can go onto to UPS Airlines, they'll need to be ATP qualified, type-rated with an additional 1500 hours turbine PIC and 30 months flying the line. They also must have a recommendation and meet the UPS First Officer requirements.

Just to get some clarification, this program only helps the UPS college intern? Not the Amflight line pilot who has been hauling UPS freight?
