135.297 requirement for PIC typed pilot
Hello all, I've been flying the Citation X for 7 years. My previous employer required both pilots to comply with the .297 check regardless of seat position (the X has only a PIC type rating and requires 2 pilots, however for compensation purposes designate 1 person PIC and 1 person SIC). I've just been hired by a new company who believes because they have designated the other pilot as SIC they are not required to send him for his .297. Can anyone tell me what their company policy is for an airplane requiring 2 pilots.
Here's the reg.
§ 135.297 Pilot in command: Instrument proficiency check requirements.
(a) No certificate holder may use a pilot, nor may any person serve, as a pilot in command of an aircraft under IFR unless, since the beginning of the 6th calendar month before that service, that pilot has passed an instrument proficiency check under this section administered by the Administrator or an authorized check pilot.
