jobs that open up after hitting 1000 hours?
Hello All,
I will be hitting 1000 hours this week and was wondering if or any jobs suddenly open up when you add that fourth digit. I am currently in the Raleigh NC and surrounding area so I am trying to look there but an overall job synopsis of the industry after hitting 1000 hours as to before would be great.
Thanks

Not really a lot happens at 1,000 hours unfortunately. At 1,200 hours you'll qualify for 135 PIC as previously mentioned, provided of course that you meet all the other requirements listed. Then of course at 1,500 you'll qualify for ATP which will get you into a regional airline. Of course all this depends on the quality of time you've been flying. Do you have any multi time? Do you have any instrument time? All that matters just as much as your total time does.

Thanks for your replies. I do have my multi commercial with about 50 hours in a multi. I also have 150 instrument hours. My problem with the 135 PIC mins is the XC amount. I have about 350 and need 150 more but building XC time while instructing can be a slow and difficult task. I was hoping if someone brought me on as a FO somewhere and I got my remaining 200 needed for 135 mins as well as the XC time I could transition to PIC relatively quickly.

It's XC point to point so any time you landed at another airport counts

Flight instructing is actually the easiest way to build XC time. Students need to see other airports. This is why many new log books have 2 columns "all XC" and "XC >50nm"
The part about gaining aeronautical experience for the purpose of an ATP rating doesn't require a landing, just that you've flown more than 50nm straight line from the original point of departure. So you can log longer trips with or without landings AND all your P2P trips (in AC you're appropriately rated in) as XC once you have your commercial certificate.

Woah. Then I most definitely have more than 500. Would you want to define that on a resume? If so, how would you do that. Just have a column for total XC time and then one for XC time towards certificates and ATP?
