I certainly don't see how it will help their captain shortage. Since the hypothetical applicant is paying for their own training, I don't think Mokulele would have any leverage to keep someone there until they upgrade to Captain. Sure, the pilot will lose out on the "flow" to SkyWest and a $15,000 bonus. But in this day and age, the person could probably go to another regional with a bigger bonus.

The basic concept does not sound much different than LIFT/Republic. With that you're paying $65k with a promise of a CFI job, then a FO job (as long as you pass everything). I would say LIFT is even worse because you're locked in for 5 years after getting in Republic (or if you leave early, you owe them another $20k).

The $7k at Mokulele gives you Mokulele specific 135 training that has zero benefit outside them.

With Cape Air, along with fractionala such as Plane Sense hiring low time newbies, why would anyone think about using Mommy and Daddy’s money to P2F?

So that isn’t even a type rating or anything? Just training on that specific airlines policies, etc?
