I am interested in applying for them soon. I saw an ad and they are advertising Miami, FL as one of their bases. Is there anybody currently based in Miami? Thank you very much.

MCO and S. FL bases are yet to open. They were announced and are planned but not yet operational. There is talk that it may not be MIA but a surrounding airport in S. FL area.

I would avoid this company right now if you aren’t a retired airline captain. FO’s are flying between 30-50 hours right now and there has been 0 talk of changing pay. So you will be stuck getting around 40 hours a month and if you’re under 1500 hours you will be making 170 a day. Which doesn’t sound too bad about a year ago when we were only doing day trips but now we are doing mostly overnights, especially in Dallas. So we are basically operating as a regional now except we make less than 1/4 of what they make. If you are between 1000 and 1500 hours you’re better off staying a CFI because you will get your 1500 hours quicker and you honestly will make more money depending on where you work. JSX needs to make a lot of changes.

Wow, did they change to more overnights when the new destinations opened up?

You make good points about pay, schedule, flight hours, etc… Except the majority of regionals right now are essentially not hiring if you’re a 1500 hour CFI type.

What a poor excuse to pay poorly. It’s hard to even live off of $170/day. Especially if you’re not flying much, you will not get a pay increase anytime soon.

The right seat does create value for low time people, but it’s still the same job. The pay shouldn’t be this bad. I certainly believe it should be much better for both seats. Supposed lifers here have been moving on. In LAS, we do not overnight at all. DAL overnights a lot but that should slow down after the FL bases open.

Can someone share, how do DAL trips look right now? Is it mostly just overnights or is it full 3-4 day trips, like at other regionals? I’m wondering if FL bases would have similar schedules

Overnights vary depending on your preference. Probably atleast 1-5 overnights a month. And agreed on the FO pay and the lack of pay overall. They need to retain the good pilot they have and at the moment seem to have no urgency in increasing pay hence why many pilots are on their way out.

Another agree. In the same pilot call leadership praised the company for having the ability to be "proactive" compared to other carriers, yet in regards to pay said they are waiting for pilot attrition (retroactive). I know several CAs and FOs on station who are about to move on, these things happen in waves, not slow trends. The only way the company will be able to react is to suddenly upgrade and hire lower experience pilots which will definitely hurt operations (i.e. more occurrences of ops limit exceedances that are apparently already a big problem).

As of about a month ago Envoy etc. started offering CJOs with no interview. Frontier's newest class has <1000 hour pilots. Applicant pools are drying up. That being said I've had nothing but great experiences working and flying with the people here and can only hope the impending retention gets fixed sooner rather than later. For being the "world's most loved carrier" we shouldn't be scraping the bottom of the market for pay and the talent it attracts.

Just curious. Are your -145s XRs or LRs?
