135 Training/Check-ride with no medical?
I could have sworn I've seen it somewhere, but now I can't find it. Do you need a current medical to do 135 flight training, 135.293/297/299 in a simulator? Recurrent, not initial type or license.
Asking for a friend. |

Asking for a friend. I’m headed to FSI for recurrent soon, and they list a medical as a required document to bring. Best bet (short of getting in to see the AME) is to contact the director of training and/or the training partner being used and ask. The training partner is ultimately the one who will decide if your friend can sit for the check rides. |
So close. 61.23(b)8
(8) When taking a practical test or a proficiency check for a certificate, rating, authorization or operating privilege conducted in a glider, balloon, flight simulator, or flight training device; That being said, a company can impose their own requirements. |

I can’t find exactly what you’re looking for either, but I can point out a couple things. Start with 61.3(c) which explains when a medical is required. Simulators are not mentioned, only aircraft. Check out 91.1089(c) which discusses check airmen and instructors in sims, and specifically carves out the medical even if acting as a required crew member.

Point of interest, 91.1089 is specifically for fractional operations, not 135.
