Air Methods Fixed wing??
 

Any AMC fixed wing folks that can give insight into QOL. Got the job offer for a local base and was curious if anyone can tell me how it really is.

I've been gone for ~6 years. When I left it was great, aside from the pay. Any more specific questions, feel free.

Pay? Commutable (I have independent travel benefits)? Ability to change base?

Pay base rate was set in cba 68-73 doe. Other signing bonus/stipend/ off duty housing dependant on location. Some higher living areas offer a cost adjustment. Managers prefer to hire local, so pilots can fill shifts on days off. 7on/7off, 12hr shifts at the base/airport. Off days worked pay 1.5* hourly rate. Some remote less desirable bases provide off duty housing. Base transfers are usually after 1 year, based on company seniority.

It looks like you’ve been there almost 2 years (if you took the offer). How has your experience been?

I left as soon as my 1 year contract was fulfilled. I did it because I needed an interim job. I was not a fan. If you are fixed wing, you are basically the step child. You are working for a helicopter company that has 500 helos, and like 30 airplanes.

With inflation as it is right now, that CBA basic pay rate is gonna have to increase to keep up with other industries. Hell, rank and file sub-5 year floor nurses are negotiating 38/hr (72K) sight unseen in Nebraska (anecdote from a wife's former nursing school classmate) for crying out loud. A such, single-pilot T-prop work in this economy is a 90K affair minimum, otherwise I'm getting my butt into nursing school lol.

I'm watching these outfits passively for a post mil retirement gig. The airline thing doesn't appeal to me and we're looking for a small metro for retirement, so these jobs line up well.

I don't know about Air Methods, but 90k is doable right now. I saw an ad in Midland, Tx paying 120k with a 50k signing bonus.
